Tatawin is a family of lamps designed by Adolfo Abejón, inspired by the characteristic houses of the town of Tataouine in the south-east of Tunisia. This elegant circular aluminium design features five shiny glass shades, available in white or black. The luminaire is designed for a light source with an E27 base and is available in two sizes. The lighting solution is designed for global markets and is compatible with 110-120V and 220-240V voltages.

Round pendant luminaire Tatawin

The design of the Tatawin luminaire combines elegant design and functionality. The circular aluminium frame is the basic element, which ensures the strength and stability of the entire luminaire, while its simple lines contribute to its modern look. Five glossy glass shades are placed on the frame and are available in white or black, giving the possibility to adapt the look of the luminaire to different interiors. The shades are made of opal glass, which evenly diffuses the light and creates a pleasant atmosphere. The luminaire is designed for use with a light source with an E27 base, allowing flexibility in the type of bulb (e.g. LED or conventional bulbs). The entire structure is designed to be compatible with global voltages of 110-120 V and 220-240 V, making it suitable for different markets. The luminaire is available in two sizes, allowing it to be adapted to both smaller and larger spaces.

Inspiration from Tunisian Architecture

The inspiration for the Tatawin luminaire comes from the traditional architecture of Tataouine, located in the south-east of Tunisia. The characteristic houses of this region have distinctive rounded shapes and specific construction details that are adapted to the harsh desert climate. The upper part of these houses often includes round and narrow structures that can resemble the shape of the lampshades of this fixture. This aesthetic is adopted into the modern design of Tatawin, where simplicity, elegance and functionality are emphasized. The combination of the aluminium body and opal glass shade in black evokes a minimalist yet sophisticated take on the traditional shape, while respecting the cultural heritage of Tunisia. This design fuses the past and the present, creating a harmony between traditional motifs and modern materials.
