The Bellhop Floor light by Italian brand Flos, designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, embodies the power of simplicity in an elegant form. The luminaire provides indirect light and consists of a painted aluminium stand in shades of brick, cioko and green, on which rests a hand-blown glass reflector in glossy opal white or grey. Thanks to the 270 cm cable length with foot dimmer, on/off and brightness control from 10-100% can be conveniently controlled. The lighting includes a power supply with interchangeable plugs, making it easy to use in different countries.

The evolution of iconic design

The Bellhop Floor lamp is a continuation of the original table model, which gained popularity thanks to its clean shape and soft light. Designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby have maintained the minimalist aesthetic of this larger version, adapting it to function as indirect lighting to create a soft and cosy atmosphere in the interior. The combination of a simple silhouette and hand-blown glass gives the fixture a contemporary and timeless expression at the same time.

Colour palette inspired by nature

Bellhop Floor is available in an unusual but sophisticated range of colours - from warm brick to deep green and dark chocolate (cioko). These colours have been carefully chosen to blend in with modern interiors and architecture, while evoking a calm, natural atmosphere. The subtlety of colour combined with the brilliance of the glass gives the luminaire exceptional visual depth.

Designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby

Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby (both born in 1969) set up their design studio in East London in 1996 after studying architecture together at the Royal College of Art. Since then, they have pushed the boundaries of design and contributed to the education of a new generation of designers through their lectures, workshops and studio practice. Their approach is based on experimentation, innovation and exploration of materials and colour. They work across disciplines - from architecture and interiors to sculpture, product and exhibition design. In 2004 they were awarded the Jerwood Award, in 2007 they were appointed Royal Designers for Industry (RDI) and in 2013 they were awarded the Order of the British Empire for services to design. Their work is included in the permanent collections of institutions such as the V&A and Design Museum in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Olympic Museum in Switzerland and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
