Bellhop Glass T from the Italian company Flos is a large-format table that stands out for its elegant workmanship and quality light diffusion. Its dome-shaped diffuser is made of three layers of opal glass, with the white layer sandwiched between two layers of clear glass that are blown simultaneously. The thicknesses of each layer vary, contributing to the optical depth and quality of the light. This sophisticated design was created in collaboration with the Flos development department and, thanks to its size, allows for even, warm and pleasant lighting that creates a cosy atmosphere in the space. The Bellhop Glass T version with a diameter of 33 cm stands on a cylindrical aluminium base with a diameter of 12 cm and is available in light aluminium, cioko and white. The lamp's materials are not only visually appealing but also fully recyclable, confirming Flos' commitment to sustainability.

Masters of glass and light

Bellhop Glass T uses triple-layer opal glass, which is produced by a complex technique of blowing three layers simultaneously. This process, known as "triplex", not only ensures perfect uniformity of light diffusion, but also a unique visual effect where the light appears soft and natural. The inner white layer combined with the outer clear layers creates a glowing cloud effect.

Design with the future in mind

While Bellhop Glass T looks luxurious and timeless, its design also has ecology in mind. Both the aluminium base and the glass diffuser are fully recyclable, allowing for sustainable disposal at the end of the product's life. With this approach, Flos proves that cutting-edge design can go hand in hand with environmental responsibility.

Designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby

Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby (both born in 1969) set up their design studio in East London in 1996 after studying architecture together at the Royal College of Art. Since then, they have pushed the boundaries of design and contributed to the education of a new generation of designers through their lectures, workshops and studio practice. Their approach is based on experimentation, innovation and exploration of materials and colour. They work across disciplines - from architecture and interiors to sculpture, product and exhibition design. In 2004 they were awarded the Jerwood Award, in 2007 they were appointed Royal Designers for Industry (RDI) and in 2013 they were awarded the Order of the British Empire for services to design. Their work is included in the permanent collections of institutions such as the V&A and Design Museum in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Olympic Museum in Switzerland and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
