The Bellhop S2 pendant light from the Italian company Flos is a sophisticated solution for ambient and work lighting. It provides direct, glare-free light that falls precisely on the surface below the luminaire. The bottom opening of the shade is shaped so that the light is directed only downwards and does not dazzle people sitting at the table. This opening is protected by an aluminium element which not only directs the light cone but also allows easy replacement of the light source. Inside the lighting, a cone of light is created which spreads homogeneously into the surroundings and at the same time illuminates the area under the luminaire in a targeted manner. In addition, the lower coloured aluminium ring visually highlights the opening from which the light emerges and gives the luminaire an iconic appearance. Bellhop S2 is the ideal choice for elegant and functional lighting of dining tables, kitchen islands or work surfaces.

Museum-inspired design

The Bellhop S2 pendant light is based on the original design of the table of the same name, designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby for the Design Museum in London. In its pendant version, it brings this design into the space in an elegant way - combining hand-blown glass with precisely directed light that is focused and non-glare thanks to the bottom opening. The result is a technically sophisticated light with an architectural touch.

Colour element with function

A unique detail of the Bellhop S2 is the coloured aluminium ring placed around the bottom opening of lighting. This element is not just decorative - it serves as an optical conductor that clearly marks the direction of the light flow and at the same time increases the visual appeal of lighting. Thanks to this accent, light looks elegant even when switched off and becomes a design element that enlivens any interior.

Designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby

Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby (both born in 1969) set up their design studio in East London in 1996 after studying architecture together at the Royal College of Art. Since then, they have pushed the boundaries of design and contributed to the education of a new generation of designers through their lectures, workshops and studio practice. Their approach is based on experimentation, innovation and exploration of materials and colour. They work across disciplines - from architecture and interiors to sculpture, product and exhibition design. In 2004 they were awarded the Jerwood Award, in 2007 they were appointed Royal Designers for Industry (RDI) and in 2013 they were awarded the Order of the British Empire for services to design. Their work is included in the permanent collections of institutions such as the V&A and Design Museum in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Olympic Museum in Switzerland and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
