The Glo-Ball pendant light from Flos, designed by Jasper Morrison in 1998, is an elegant design piece providing soft and diffused light. The shade consists of hand-blown opal glass that is acid frosted on the outside to achieve a soft lighting effect. The shade holder is made of pressed steel painted gloss white, the rosette is made of 30% glass fibre reinforced polyamide and the ceiling mount is made of pressed and galvanised metal. The luminaire is suspended from a steel cable system, which ensures that it is clean and balanced in the space.

Inspiration by the shape of the moon

The design of lighting Glo-Ball is based on the idea of creating a perfectly simple "ball of light", whose soft glow is reminiscent of moonlight. Jasper Morrison focused on making the light appear natural and calm, and it is the opal glass with a frosted surface that perfectly conveys this atmosphere.

Minimalism with attention to detail

Although the Glo-Ball looks simple at first glance, its construction includes high-quality materials and sophisticated technical solutions - from hand-blown glass to a fibreglass-reinforced polyamide rosette. Morrison's approach to "supernormal" design is on full display here - the result is a timeless object that works well in any interior.
