SuperWire F by Flos is the first modular family of luminaires designed by Formafantasma, combining a magical and poetic design with a reference to the work of the glass masters of the last century. The flat glass and polished aluminium luminaire uses a uniquethin, flexible LED strip up to 1 metre long, which gives off a warm and even light across the entire surface and is easily replaceable. The floor-standing version of SuperWire F consists of two 75cm high modules on a steel tripod stand, inspired by the Castiglioni brothers' iconic Luminator, and its sculptural appearance and innovative technology make it an exceptional design and lighting feature in interiors.

A tribute to the craft of glassmaking and Italian design

SuperWire F by Flos is the result of the first collaboration between the design duo Formafantasma and this iconic Italian brand. The luminaire combines modern technology with the poetics of traditional craftsmanship - the flat glass diffusers recall the precise work of master glassmakers of the last century, while the reference to Castiglioni's legendary 1954 Luminator pays homage to milestones of Italian design.

Light as a flowing line

The unique design uses an extremely thin, up to one metre long LED strip that is flexible, replaceable and provides a soft, even, warm light. The tape is placed between two layers of flat glass and, thanks to careful engineering, the light appears to flow within the material itself - creating a light object that is not only functional but also sculpturally expressive.

Designed by Formafantasma

Formafantasma is an Italian-Dutch design duo formed by Andrea Trimarchi and Simon Farresini, based between Milan and Rotterdam. Their work is based on experimentation that unpredictably shapes the final form of each project - exploring not only materials and forms, but also human behaviour and the relationship with the environment. Their work aims to stimulate a deeper understanding of human nature and the nature around us. Their portfolio is characterised as "visual language and thoroughly researched outcomes", which is reflected in projects such as the Wireline and Wirering lighting, where form is secondary and light and shadow play the main role. In their own words, "We wanted to change the perception of design - to show that design is an approach that helps people better shape their environment.
