An icon of experimental design

Taraxacum 88 is proof of how Achille Castiglioni was able to push the boundaries of design - instead of a classic lampshade, he created light from dozens of ordinary light bulbs, achieving not only a unique lighting effect, but also a radical aesthetic. The luminaire is also an homage to raw materials and structures that are usually hidden - here they are deliberately highlighted and form the dominant element of the space.

Light as a statue

Thanks to its size, complex design and symmetrical arrangement of light sources, Taraxacum 88 has become not only a lamp but a true art object. It often appears in galleries, modern interiors and architectural projects around the world as the focal point of a space. It combines functionality with dramatic visual impact, showing how lighting can be a vehicle for a powerful visual experience.

Designed by Achille Castiglioni

Achille Castiglioni was a pioneer of Italian design and one of the most significant figures in 20th century industrial design. He studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic and co-founded the famous Studio Castiglioni with his brothers in 1938. Together with Piero Giacomo, he designed iconic lighting such as Arco and Taccia for the Flos brand, which became part of the permanent collection of New York's MoMA. During his 64-year career, he worked with leading brands such as Alessi, Cassina, Zanotta and Olivetti. He was a founding member of the ADI and the recipient of eight Compasso d'Oro awards. His work combines functionality, ingenuity and a refined sense of aesthetics. Castiglioni's legacy is still alive today and his products are among the timeless icons of global design.
